New and exclusive to Gun Hill Clothing Company. Our luxurious, yet practical and hard-wearing overshirt is the perfect garment to be worn day in and out and stand the test of time. They are proudly made in Norfolk - in a factory full of experienced craftspeople, who have been making durable, honest garments for over 120 years.
The chore jackets are made from thick twill cotton that is 400 G/m thick. This gives it a really hard-wearing and naturally structured feel, whilst being an unstructured jacket. There are three different colours which are dark navy and navy (as shown below), plus a natural lovat green.

The foundation of the Double Coat is our Mackinaw Wool Cruiser, patented in 1914 and engineered for Pacific Northwest foresters. The full-width back pocket was originally designed as map pocket for timber cruiser, and works just as well today for bulky items such as gloves and caps. The tightly woven 24-oz. Mackinaw Wool twill is highly durable, wind-resistant, and warm. This 100% wool is comfortable in a wider range of weather conditions than any other material.
Filson Tin Cloth is evolved from the waxed canvas used to make our jackets and pants for loggers and hunters as early as 1920. A Gun Hill Favourite. The Mackinaw Wool Cruiser by Filson is the most versatile cold-weather protection you’ll find–when you want to wear one jacket, no matter what direction the weather turns, nothing performs better. The extremely durable wool from Pantex is an uncommonly tight weave that resists wind while remaining breathable. Mackinaw Wool insulates wet or dry–due to its complex fiber structure, it can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in water without feeling damp or clammy. With the four snap-flap pockets on the front and a full-width map/chart pocket covering the entire back, two layers of wool cover most of the torso, right where it’s needed most.
Originally patented in 1914 as the Wool Cruising Shirt, C.C. Filson’s Cruiser was designed for foresters and timber cruisers in the rain-soaked Pacific Northwest forests. Offered as a pullover shirt as well as a button-front jacket, the Cruiser rapidly became one of the most-imitated jackets on the market. Since its versatile performance was also appreciated by hunters, Filson also introduced a red & black plaid version, which was one of the earliest high-visibility camouflage patterns. (Deer see in black & white, and the blocked pattern helps to break up a solid silhouette in the forest.) The best shooting jacket for a long day in the field. The Ptarmigan classic tweed jacket from Schoffel based in Rutland is just the coat for all weather types this Winter. It is crafted from 100% milled British tweed made from lambswool. Tweed has been a favourite of outdoor goers due to its hard-wearing, durable properties. Its been used since the 19th century but this checked design has been bought up the year 2022 with a Gore-Tex lining and a stain and moisture repellent finish to ensure you keep out the rain.
